Dr. Christa Oliver

Dr. Lisa McGrath and Dr. Christa Oliver maintain independent orthodontic practices within a collegial environment that stimulates professional collaboration. They believe this promotes the best care for their patients. Both practices are committed to providing high quality orthodontic treatment in a friendly and caring atmosphere.

Drs. McGrath and Oliver grew up in rural Newfoundland and share a sincere appreciation for the values and traditions of the outports. Memorial University of Newfoundland brought each of them to St John’s for their first degree, Bachelor of Science.

Dr. Oliver received her Doctor of Dental Medicine degree from McGill University and followed this academic training with a one year Dental Residency at the University of Rochester in New York. Dr. Oliver completed her three-year Master of Science Orthodontic Specialty training at the University of Toronto.

Dr. McGrath received her Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from Dalhousie University in Halifax. Dr. McGrath returned to St. John’s and practiced General Dentistry for two years after which she completed her three-year Master of Science Orthodontic Specialty training at the University of Alberta.

Drs. McGrath and Oliver are Board-Certified Orthodontists and Fellows of the Royal College of Dentists of Canada. They are also active in the profession as published authors and are committed to being in the forefront of clinical advancements in the specialty of orthodontics. They both love their work and care deeply not only about the quality of clinical care but also the patient experience.

Dr. McGrath grew up in a large family in Patrick’s Cove on the Cape Shore. Her parents and four sisters and one brother have helped create some of the most enjoyable memories of her life! She and her husband, Rich, have three young daughters, Jaylee, Maggie and Liv who keep them constantly on their toes.

Dr. Oliver is from Burnt Point, Conception Bay North and also has a very strong sense of home and family. When not practicing orthodontics, she spends time with her husband, Chris, and young sons, Levi and Jesse. Levi and Jesse are fortunate to have two very proud sets of grandparents and will be jigging cod and hunting moose before long!
